Mountain Bike – Woodhill Forest
On the Northern Edge of the Kumeu district is the Woodhill radiate pine forest. Woodhill is amoungst the most scenic recreational venues in New Zealand and occupies over 12,000 hectares of forest. Woodhill Forest is a venue with plenty of dedicated MTB trails that cater to all levels. As winter gets wetter, Woodhill gets better.

Surfing – Piha Beach
Piha is New Zealand’s most famous surf beach. Situated on the west coast of the North Island, 40 kilometers from the city of Auckland, this black iron-sand beach has a reputation for awesome surf. After competing here against a New Zealand surf team in 1950, an Australian surf life saving team said they never wanted to compete on the beach again…and they haven’t. When Uncle Toby’s Iron Man contest was held at Piha in 1997, canoes were snapped in two.

Rafting – Wairoa River

Waitakere
We will visit the Arataki Information Centre. Here you can learn about the area you visit today and about the
history and future of the forest. Next stop: Piha Beach – one of New Zealand’s most famous surf beaches. At Piha we will have a look at the surfers and take a stroll on the beach. We will walk to Karekare Waterfall for lunch. Enjoy a nice break at this beautiful natural setting. After lunch we will walk down to Karekare Beach. Take your time for a nice beach walk or jump in the ocean. The next activity today is a short bush walk (+-45 min.). We’ll look out for the native flora and fauna. A very enjoyable activity for everyone. Last but no least we have the opportunity to see a colony of Australian Gannets at Muriwai. A great experience to see these amazing birds so close. It feels like watching Discovery Channel!!

Horse Riding & SheepWorld
We will visit SheepWorld during the morning. We will spend time at the animal farm and enjoy the great sheep
shearing show. Here you can lean everything about the famous New Zealand Sheep. After the show, we’ll stop for lunch at Warkworth. Enjoy a nice break along the gorgeous river. We’ re expected to be at the farm at 1:30pm to go for a ride through the hills. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an experience rider. You have a choice of one or two hours riding. It the weather allows, we’ll make a stop on the way back for a swim or walk at Wenderholm Regional Park.

Hobbiton Movie Set
The Hobbiton Tour wil take us to the famous location that has been the home for the film crew of Lord of the Rings
at the time of filming Hobbiton. A big part of the set has been destroyed after finishing the filming of Hobbiton. However – the remaining part gives you a great impression of how things worked during filming. After a long and informative tour, we’ll eat out lunch just outside the farm at the “Shire’s Rest”. After lunch we’ll drive via Cambridge to Hamilton. One of Hamilton’s major attractions is the Hamilton Gardens. We’ll spend some time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
